We’re Still Alive!

So good news on the “World being plunged into a matter splitting black hole” front.

It wasn’t!

This morning at 3:30 am (EST) some scientists thought it would be a good idea to collide protons at super high speeds with a Hadron Collider, thus recreating the milliseconds after the Big Bang. That sounds cool and all, but it worried me for one reason.

Hadron Collider

Tiny black holes would be created in the process. Here, on Earth, would be tiny black holes.

My knowledge of black holes is solely derived from Star Trek and other sci-fi shows and movies. And in all of these examples, black holes are never used as a vacation spot.

But, as of right now, I’m alive, and tens of you are reading this, so everything must have gone okay. Huzzah for science not destroying our reality!

Now I can go about my life as I did before, not changing a thing about it, despite being threatened with non-existence.

The only problem is that they only launched one side of the collider. They havn’t yet collided anything, once they launch the other side, THEN we have something to worry about…

All I know is that it all makes me feel weird and uncomfortable…
