During college I was an RA. For three years. I was involved in a lot of different activities and programs on campus that lots of people pretty much avoided like a disease. And I pretty much enjoyed every single second of it. I was a huge residence life nerd, so what. I’m also an orange belt in karate, so there (I’m unsure about the relevance, as well…).
Anyways, one program that the university put on was something that my friend Tiffany and I couldn’t get over. It was called “The Wall of Hate”. Basically, it entailed people writing down oppressive terms on cinder blocks so that a wall could be made with them. That wall would then be torn down. You know, to symbolize the end of hate and stuff. So I guess, theoretically, we were trying to save the world.
(It’s ideas like this, you guys, that can solve the issues we’re finding ourselves in now. If only people would just realize…)
So Tiff and I decided to film the end of hate. It’s probably 10x better than you could even dream. I hope you enjoy it and feel less oppressed!
Because I have new roommates [moved into a new place, story for later], I’m still getting know what they’re like and the things they love. Recently, one of my roommates, a former comedian, mentioned how he loves this guy, Bill Hicks, and we should all watch him sometime.
Well, long story short [maybe I would go into funny little analogies and what not right now, but because I was sick yesterday, I have about zero patience for putting in a lot of hoo-hah effort] we watched this pretty awesome stand up. If you have about an hour today and like to laugh and be all mirthful and whatevs, watch this and enjoy.
I saw Lykke Li at All Points West this year, and ever since then, I’m becoming more obsessed, day by day. Actually, my secret hopes and dreams entail her googling herself, finding this post, and deciding that she needs to party with me.
Lykke Li Lykke Li Lykke Li Lykke Li.
Little bit of SEO, mofos. She’ll find this.
UPDATE: Baeble Music sent me a link to Lykke Li’s performance at the Bowery Ballroom last year. Watch her be like Stevie Nicks and weave her magic all over that stage.
Jon Armstrong has been interviewing his dog, Chuck, on various political topics. And I love it.
But what I’m really excited to see are the videos of Chuck caught in compromising situations, like smoking weed or gallivanting around gay bars. Wiggle your way out of that, smooth talker.
You’ve probably already seen this or remakes, but I don’t care, because it’s amazing. We’ve actually been dancing to this at work while at our desks. Some have even said they’re going to dance all up on the printer table.
I dare you.
Isn’t it great? Don’t you just want to 80’s dance right now?
Work has been ridiculous lately, so I apologize for the lack of posts recently. I’ve actually started calling work “lover” because it makes me feel less guilty about all the time I spend with it. And the unnecessary brutal nights.
That aside, watch this video. I’ve seen like, 4 episodes of Lost, and even I can grasp how freaking awesome this is.
So Time Waster Tuesday has been absent for awhile now. But for reals, you guys, we’re in the midst of a depression. You don’t have the TIME to be wasting if you want to keep that paycheck and job! That is super not responsible, and I don’t want to help you feed that bad habit.
That being said, go spend time on this site. All you do is tell it a month, day and year and you can find out what the #1 song on Billboard was the day you were born! Because of your time wasting disease, you’ll probably be asking everyone you know what their birthdays are so you can let them know how awesome / embarrassing / kick ass their song was the day they were born. Here is mine. I’m not sure what to make of this.
So, you know how this morning you woke up feeling all something is missing in my life, I have a hole in my soul and need to fill it? but nothing, not even a bagel or donut or muffin or even hash brown from McDonald’s, filled it? Even though that hash brown was, for lack of a better descriptor, THE BOMB.
Well, this won’t aptly fill your hole either, but it’s better than nothing!*
I know that this song is about 3 weeks late, which in internet years is about 5 years, but I just had to post it. So if you don’t like it, all I can offer you is a hug and a promise to try to do better next time.
Kay Pettigrew has such a wonderful voice, I find myself just rewinding this video again and again so I can have some sweet as cover music in the background while I do my whole job thing.
Check her out on her myspace page and get to know the gal. Maybe even download her CD!
